It’s not every day children are able to have supper with Santa. They filled the Lariccia Family Community Center in Boardman Park when they had the chance to do so for the 11th annual Supper with Santa Dec. 4 and 5.

“It’s just a lot of fun to do some holiday activities together as a family to enjoy the season,” Karen McCallum, recreation director, said Dec. 4.

While eating a dinner of childhood favorites – chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, corn, carrots and applesauce – families enjoyed a viewing of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

Participants made a variety of crafts, including decorating a picture of a gingerbread boy with candy-shaped stickers, a snow measuring stick and a rubber-stamped greeting card. They also played in artificial snow and got temporary tattoos.

Angela Sosnosky of Boardman brought her children, Nathan and Isabelle, to the event.

The children wanted to see Santa, Angela said.

Isabelle was fascinated with the artificial snow, and played with it for a long time. Nathan enjoyed making a snow measuring stick. He asked Santa for a Disney-Pixar video game.

The event was sold out both nights – 240 people participated.
