The Austintown girls soccer team is looking to improve upon last season’s 10-7-1 with 11 letterwinners returning for the 2012 season.

Back are seniors Jessica Scott, Megan Miller, Meghan Shonce, juniors Madison Hefner, Anna Marie Jadue, Mandi Koch, Liz Mosier, Jayme Ritchie, Lauren Bower, Mikah Vaughn and sophomore Kimmy Muccio.

According to coach Tex Martin, there will probably be five or six promising freshman to see varsity play this season as well.

There were seven players lost to graduation, including Emily Durina, who will continue playing soccer at Walsh University.

Martin said the league is looking to be very competitive, both in the Federal League and the All American Conference. The team will be looking to beat Howland and Canfield, who defeated Fitch twice in the 2011 season.

“This is my second year as head coach and although I would love to win every game, sometimes you have to be happy when you see improvement in your team. I am hoping the improvement of the team continues this year,” said Martin.
